There are many different routes and services to use when travelling to Lyme Regis. Hopefully the following information and advice will help make your trip to Lyme Regis a bit easier.

BY TRAIN

The nearest station to Lyme Regis is Axminster, which is approximately 10 minutes away by car. From here there is usually a the First 31 bus service to Lyme tying in with train arrivals. Take a look at the full time table HERE (please take notes that the buses back to Axminster do not tie in with the train service, and so a taxi service may be of use (see company names and numbers below).

BY CAR

If travelling from the North then using the M5 is probably the quickest option, leaving at junction 29 signposted Exeter. From here follow the A30 signposted Honiton for around 10mins until you reach Honiton. Avoid the first turning to Honiton and use the second junction, approximately 1 mile ahead. Follow the slip road up until you reach a mini-roundabout where you take the first exit onto the A35. You now follow the A35 for 15 mins until you reach the Hunters Lodge pub and juction, taking the right turn signposted Uplyme

This road will take you directly into the centre of Lyme Regis.

If travelling from the London/South East region then using the M3 is the quickest option. Stay on the M3 signposted South West (Southampton) until just past Eastleigh where you are advised to stay in the left hand lanes as you join the M27 singposted West (Bournemouth). After 10 miles this will merge and become the A31 where you should follow signposts for Dorchester, which is approximately 35miles away. Once navigating your way though the numerous roundabouts in Dorchester, follow the A35 signposted Honiton, which will take you through Bridport which is 15 miles away. After several more roundabouts in Bridport you stay with the A35 until you reach yet another roundabout! Take the second exit onto the A3050 which after following for a few minutes will take you directly into the centre of Lyme Regis.

BY PLANE

The nearest airport to Lyme Regis is Exeter. Another option to use if you cannot get any flights into Exeter is Bournemouth. From here we recommend you use one of the airport transfer taxi services that are based in Lyme Regis. Please click here
