Lifeboat week 2012 in Lyme Regis

Lifeboat week is well under way in Lyme Regis this week with the sun shining and over 50 events taking place during the week.

The highlight of the week will be the Red Arrows on Sunday 29th July at 4pm. A regular fixture in Lyme Regis as are the RAF Falcons Parachute team who will drop on to Lyme’s main beach at 3pm on Friday 27th July.

Amongst the other activities, in the Shelters on Marine Parade there will be an art exhibition, two classic car displays, taster sessions of windsurfingand stand up paddle boarding.

There will be competitions on the beach for children including sand sculptures, pavement art, duck races in the river Lym and a teddy bear’s picnic.

For the more fun and competitive there is swimming race from Cobb Gate to the harbour, a fun run on Marine Parade, a Yard of Ale competition at the Cobb Arms or challenge the lifeboat crew to a game of skittles.

Every night during the week there will be live music in local pubs and other musical events in the Marine Parade Shelters.
